<p style="text-align: justify;">How often and for how long is it best to do activity? Again, everyone is different so listen to your inner knowing and do what it says. Some hints on understanding what your inner knowing is telling you around physical activity: One day 30 minutes might be perfect for you, and the next day only 10 minutes is good. Other days an hour or two might be ideal. One day a slow relaxing pace might be ideal, the next a heavy vigorous workout might be called for. You might work out 5 days a week and 2 the next. There are no rules about how and when you should or shouldn&#8217;t do physical activity. My only guideline would be: Do what you want to do, and listen to your inner knowing when doing it. The lawyers would want me to tell you to consult a physician before starting any exercise program here. My thought is, your inner knowing knows better than any doctor does about what is best for you. If you listen to your inner knowing and act on what it says, who cares about the doctor.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Walking outside is great option. You can take deep full breaths of fresh air when you are walking and go within and focus on the presence within you. You will also get sunlight from being outside. Bottom line, just do some form of sustained physical activity.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">One overlooked form of Activity that is so essential to your well being is mental activity. And I am not talking about worry. When I talk about mental activity, I am talking about creativity, using the mind creatively. It does not have to be &#8220;art,&#8221; either. Creativity comes in many shapes and forms.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">You can be a lawyer and be solving cases, figuring out creative ways to win the case. You can be an architect and use your mind to create projects. You can read books and use your mind to create pictures and connections and the &#8220;movie in your head.&#8221; You can do problem solving activities, like crossword puzzles or some card and board games, anything where you are creating new thoughts, new patterns of thinking, and different ways of looking at things. This is mental activity.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Art is also a really good way to do mental activity. The process of creating abstract things also encourages new ways of thinking and patterns of thought. These new ways of thinking and being are stimulating your brain and nerves to grow and regenerate. Like the muscles in the body, if you don&#8217;t use them, you lose them. So creatively using the mind helps us to grow and flourish from within.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">What is the best form of mental activity? Whatever it is you will actually do. And it can be different every day. Just as with physical activity, whatever you do is perfect. It can be the same thing every day, or you can do something different every day. It is really up to you and your inner knowing.</p>

And you can buy just about anything there&#8211;from CDs, movies and vitamins to first edition books, new businesses and even someone&#8217;s last breath of air. But&#8211;what you want to know&#8211;is it the place to shop for fitness equipment?</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The answer is yes, but that&#8217;s if you don&#8217;t mind sifting and, in most cases, bidding.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">On a given day in June 2003, there were 1,026,771 items listed under the &#8220;Sports&#8221; category; and there were 344,705 items in the &#8220;Sporting Goods&#8221; subcategory, which is broken down into more than three-dozen subcategories. Under &#8220;Exercise &amp; Fitness,&#8221; a &#8220;Sporting Goods&#8221; subcategory, there were 7,146 items. And that subcategory is divided up into six subcategories. Hope you&#8217;re not too confused.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">On that given June day, I took a look at several fitness products sold on eBay. I wanted to find out how low prices on new (never been used) popular or quality products go on this mega auction site. The good news: They can go pretty low.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">One product I examined was Total Trainer, and there are several models listed on eBay. I zeroed in on the 3000 model, which is supposed to be comparable to the Brinkley- and Norris- endorsed Total Gym 3000. On eBay, Total Trainer is offered in two pricing formats: Name your own or Buy It Now (skip the auction process) for $277. Off eBay, Total Gym retails for, on average, $500.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">I also compared a few other infomercial-marketed products. One, a knock-off of the Fast Abs bodybuilding belt, an electronic muscle stimulation device, runs for about $10 to $15 on eBay (with free shipping). Off eBay, the real product will cost you around $30, plus shipping/handling. Another, Smart ABS, is priced at $50 on eBay; off, it ranges between $70 and $80. A third product is a Fitness Quest glider similar to the Tony Little Gazelle Freestyle Elite. Buy it on eBay and you&#8217;ll pay roughly $220, almost half of what you would spend at Little&#8217;s official site.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The last product I checked out was Jolie Weights, one-pound attachable fitness shoe weights introduced this spring by Jolie World. At JolieWeights.com, these weights cost $19.99. An independent eBay seller was auctioning them for $14.99. That&#8217;s a 25 percent savings. Plus, shipping/handling charges are exactly the same.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The bottom line is: You will find some good deals on eBay. But there are a good number of duds there too. The best advice? Do your research before buying. Compare prices; read the fine print; ask the seller whether it&#8217;s a discontinued or irregular product; and be vigilant of bloated shipping/handling charges (a common practice among eBay sellers). A final tip: before buying anything, read the seller&#8217;s reviews, where buyers post their positive or negative shopping experiences. If the eBay seller has too many negatives, then you may want to pass on the deal. If the seller seems legitimate, and you&#8217;ve confirmed it&#8217;s a steal, jump on it. The price&#8211;the product&#8211; may be gone tomorrow.</p>

want to achieve. Forget things like, &#8220;I want to get in shape&#8221;, &#8220;I want to add muscle&#8221;, or &#8220;I want to lose weight&#8221;, or &#8220;I want to increase my bench press.&#8221;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Instead try things like &#8220;I want to run a 6 minute mile&#8221;, &#8220;I want to add 10 pounds of muscle&#8221;, &#8220;I want to lose 20 pounds of fat, or &#8220;I want to add 40 pounds to my best bench press.&#8221;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The M stands for measurable. This ties in very well with specific. You can&#8217;t measure &#8216;getting in shape&#8221;, but you sure can measure &#8216;running a 6 minute mile&#8217;.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">With a pair of trusty skin fold calipers, you can also measure pretty accurately adding 10 pounds of muscle or losing 20 pounds of fat.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">And of course, you can easily measure the poundage increase on your best bench press.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The specific and measurable aspect can be broken down even more to bring you closer to achieving your goals. For example, if you want to add 10 pounds of muscle, what other specific and measurable things must you do to reach your goal?</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">One could be that you must eat 6 high protein meals a day.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A second could be that you must eat 3,500 calories and 300 grams of protein every day.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">You must train with weights three days per week.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">You must add weight to your exercises at least every other workout.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">All of these are specific and measurable. The more specifics that you have, the more likely you will add your 10 pounds of muscle as quickly as possible.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">You can make a list of your daily, weekly, and monthly goals that you must do in order to meet your top goal of adding 10 pounds of muscle.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Each day, place a check mark next to each measurable and specific goal you achieved that will help you conquer your top goal. Obviously, the more checks you have, the more likely that you will achieve your goal.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In addition to specific and measurable, your goals must be A, or attainable. The R stands for realisitic. As I&#8217;ve said before, it&#8217;s important to set challenging goals.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Challenging, but attainable, that is. A goal of a 50 pound increase on your bench press max in 12 weeks would be a challenging goal, but also one that is possible.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">However, setting a goal of bench pressing 300 pounds in 4 weeks when you currently bench press 75 pounds will do nothing but set you up for failure and frustration.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Obviously, weight loss is on the minds of many people, which is why so many fall victim to promises like &#8220;lose 30 pounds in 30 days without getting hungry and without exercising.&#8221;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">As a reader of this newsletter, you know that the above is neither timely nor realistic. But many people do fall for such things because they want results NOW! They are setting themselves up for failure. Please don&#8217;t join them.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The T stands for Timely. If you do everything previously mentioned, it&#8217;s still not enough. You must give yourself a deadline to achieve your goal. More importantly, if your goal is attainable and realistic, but also long term, break it up into smaller goals.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">If you wish to lose 75 pounds, start with losing just 10 pounds in 2 months. Reaching that goal will motivate you further and before you know it, enough time has passed that you&#8217;ve lost the 75 pounds.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">But if you focus solely on losing the 75 pounds, which could take a year or more to accomplish, your motivation and discipline could wane, and you could fail to follow through on what you need to do to make your goal a reality.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Making goals timely hold you accountable and creates a positive sense of urgency. You may think twice about eating that piece of cake when you know you are having a body composition test and pictures taken in 2 weeks.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In addition to getting smart, celebrate your successes. And I don&#8217;t mean that you should allow yourself to dust off a gallon of ice cream in one sitting because you lost 10 pounds. That would be self defeating.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">But you could treat yourself to a movie, or a pair of jeans you&#8217;ve had your eye on, or an extra hour of sleeping in on the weekend. Don&#8217;t sabotage your wonderful efforts by giving yourself destructive rewards for accomplishing your goals.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">You know, you have the power to heal. You have this power that is in you, in your true self, your higher self. Let me give you some tips how to heal yourself. It is all about gathering your energy (that you have in you) and channeling it towards self healing.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">* Start to say thank you for the things you have in life. First the obvious: be grateful for your physical health. Look at your body, look at your face. Look at your eyes. And wonder how everything is just so perfect, so beautiful.</p>
<p><span id="more-461"></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">* Then, make a list of all the good things you have received, lived, or experienced in the past 6 months. Your new tool, printer, computer, iPhone, iPad, new shoes, new shirt, new jeans, anything that is new.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">* Remain positive, laugh with your friends or do things you love. Photograph, draw, read, watch a good movie, paint, play the piano, dance (even alone, why not?). Keep looking for the positive side of life. Miracles are all around you, just be aware of them.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">* You have the power to heal. Invoke it! Say, think, &#8220;I am capable of healing of any sickness and illness!&#8221; The doctors know some areas in health based on traditional Western medicine, but they have no power to heal you, because this is something that is going on inside of you, in your own mind/body. What doctors do is to take a guess of how to alleviate the pain, observe the symptoms, and try to stop the illness. But all that is just guessing, based on their knowledge. They are focused on methods, not the end result.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">If you believe in your higher self or source, or god-source, he/she/it never makes any mistake.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Note: did you know that the origin of the process of healing, even cicatrization (from a scar) is still not explained by science? How it disappear?</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">1. Here are some personal examples&#8230; with this belief, I have already recovered from:</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">* left eye nerve paralysis,<br />
* arthritis of the right hand,<br />
* right eye, corneal abrasion, a scratch on cornea<br />
* arthritis in both knees,<br />
* and various other health problems.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">2. Behold Nature</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Lose yourself in the contemplation of nature, people, and away from your problems. Focus on the beauty of the flora, wild life, and let your problems float away.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">3. Take care of your projects</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">For example, when my left eye was paralyzed, we were moving. I put a patch on it, and shopped for furniture, drove everyday, built from scratch a huge walking closet (dim: 3 yds x 2.5 yds x 5 yds!). Then, I put wall paper in 3 medium sized rooms. All I did was to focus on my moving and projects.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">4. Laugh, be positive,</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Go on YouTube, there are plenty of clips that are very funny and positive note: if you like some movies, you can get clips on YouTube. (Dumb and Dumber, Jack Black, OSS 117, Seinfeld and such). Read funny books, watch comedies, laugh with your friends.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">5. Make a list</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Make a list of all the good things (see above) with genuine gratitude. Keep you mind on the watch for any positive experience in your life, and the ones unfolding (&#8230;Live fully in the present moment &#8211; here and now).</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">6. Be of service</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">I know it&#8217;s a bit simple, but to serve others, it&#8217;s going to cheer you up because you realize that you are useful in the lives of others. Do this with all your will, not because you have to!</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">7. Meditate</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Take the time to empty your mind. Let silence do its job. It&#8217;s amazing the things that happen to those who meditate.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">8. Relax!</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">More and more doctors agree to the main reason (or reason #1) of health problems are due to&#8230; stress. That is a fact: stress get people sick, ill, and sometimes even kills! Beside relaxing in a long bath with salts, you also can draw, paint, or just play! (playing with other people is more fun if you can do this).</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Now, you have all the basic tools to heal yourself now. I hope this short list will help you to heal. The most important to heal is to keep positive, expect healing, and release your desire to heal to god-source-universe-higher self. Detach yourself from the outcome is what is crucial too. Warning: the more you think about it, the longer it will manifest, because you are creating another condition, a condition of need, which generates more need. (&#8220;like attracts like!&#8221; and &#8220;what you resist persist.&#8221;)</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Of course there are great books to read, especially it is not about the bike by Lance Armstrong, a bestseller, and Louise Hay you can heal your life.</p>

NONE of them will work if you keep eating the same way. You got your waistline to where it is now most of all by bad eating habits. An ab exercise machine will strengthen your stomach muscles in short order, but will do virtually NOTHING for removing the fat that surrounds it presently. Surprised? You probably are because all of those ab equipment infomercials conveniently forgot to mention this, at least until you get the product delivered.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The answer to how to firm and flatten your abs is NOT sit-ups.</p>
<p><span id="more-460"></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">I have never met anyone who can consistently do sit-ups in an effort to get in shape. Not only is it physically challenging to do, sit-ups can be the absolute worst thing for your back, neck and hips &#8211; especially people over 40. Actually, the business of promoting ab performance equipment is a huge industry, and in fact there are some really good exercise products out there and using anyone of them can help you firm and flatten your abs, but you must do the same amount of work on your diet simultaneously.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The reason for this is because your eating and drinking habits can be contributing to your expanding waistline. Think of fats and carbohydrates as deposits, essentially traveling straight to your abdomen and waist. If you cannot start to control these intakes in your diet, then you have no business thinking you are going to get those chiseled abs the movie stars have. Oh and by the way, those movie stars have a personal trainer and/or diet specialist working with them full-time. They take it seriously, and so you need to as well.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">So let&#8217;s start with the basics. Firstly, understanding carbohydrates and how the body deals with them is imperative. The human body needs a certain amount of carbohydrates (carbs) to function properly. Carbs can be like fuel for the body, but consuming too many carbs compared to a low physical energy output can turn into a weight problem in short order. The best thing to do is start watching what kinds of foods you regularly eat. Foods with a high amount of carbohydrates include grains &#8211; especially items like white bread and pasta, and pretty much all starches like flour, corn, potatoes, rice, beans and anything sugary like coated cereals, donuts, muffins, cakes, and pastry. One of the worst culprits and hardest challenges to overcome will be your coffee habit (and teaspoons of sugar every cup).</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A good way to start reducing your carbs is to simply start reducing them in your major meal of the day. Instead of chicken and potatoes, have chicken and roasted tomatoes or zucchini for example. Reduce your portion size of pasta in preference for a larger salad. And completely cut out from your diet indulgent items like pizza, french fries, soft drinks, and hamburgers. Furthermore, reduce the amount of sugar in your coffee, or the amount of coffees in a day. Start bringing bottled water to work and have that on your break instead. No one&#8217;s saying go cold turkey, but start setting yourself reduction goals for these items. Instead of snacking, make sure you always have fresh apples at home and learn to appreciate their goodness as an alternative.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The other waist killer is fat. This also needs to be addressed in your diet by reducing intake of oils, fatty foods, and common spreads such as butter and margarine. These days there are several light alternatives for cooking with oils and butter, but steaming, poaching and roasting are methods you may want to try and rediscover at home as an alternative to frying. Eliminating or at least reducing any deep fried food from your menu choices is imperative too. Choose the salad or soup instead of fries or egad&#8230; mozzarella sticks &#8211; double whammy.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Bottom line is if you cannot get into these radical diet changes voluntarily then you have zero chance to firm and flatten your abs. Abdominal exercises, better diet, and regular walks, running, or skating is the real secret to awesome abs, the question is, how bad do you want them?</p>
